Good nutrition is necessary to keep kids on track toward their best education. Students need a good breakfast to get the day started. Non-perishable food items such as dry cereal, easy-to-make hot cereals, dry milk and dried fruits such as raisins can fortify children to start the day.
Once home, kids need snacks to keep them going. Canned fruit, dry fruit, nuts, peanut butter, all-fruit jams and whole grain crackers can give youngsters an opportunity to fuel up for homework and much needed activity. Add some canned meats to the crackers for even more good nutrition.
Dinner rounds out the day and the Greene Food Bank’s normal monthly request for August is canned pasta meals, spaghetti sauce and dried pasta. Add canned fruits to round out the evening meal.

Feeding your hunger is a simple matter of going to the cabinet or refrigerator and getting something to eat…unless the cabinet and refrigerator hold nothing but empty shelves making hunger is something you can’t feed.
The Greene County Food Bank works to make sure no one in Greene County goes hungry. The Woman’s Club of Greene County administers and funds the Greene County Food Bank and raises funds to help fill the shelves.
