KID PAN
ALLEY IN
GREENE
Schools
Originated
by
guitarist
and
songwriter,
Paul
Reisler,
the
program
brings
professional
songwriters
into the
classroom
with
students
and works
with them
to create
a unique
song that
has been
written by
the class.
The
students
have to
decide a
topic,
conceptualize
a story,
work
together
on rhythm
and then
perform
their
piece at a
public
concert
showcasing
each
class’s
creation.
The
excitement
and love
of their
own music
is
something
to behold.
It is an
experience
that
teaches
cooperation,
discipline,
rhyming,
and the
ability of
the
individual
to
participate
in song
writing
and
performance,
and not
just be a
consumer
of someone
else’s
music. A
CD of all
the kid’s
songs is
produced
so they
have a
lasting
record of
their
work.
This
program
has become
national
in scope.
A CD of
songs
written by
Nashville
school
children
has been
produced,
with some
of
Nashville's
most
prominent
recording
artists
including
Kix
Brooks,
Amy Grant,
Delbert
McClinton,
Raul Malo,
Suzy
Bogguss
and
others.
The CD has
received
the
prestigious
Parents
Choice
Gold
Award.
