“Lynwood” Andrews
Richard “Lynwood”
Andrews, 54, of Stanardsville passed away Tuesday,
September 25, 2007 after a long courageous battle with
cancer.
He was born November 19,
1952 in Warren County.
Lynwood was preceded in
death by his father, Sandy Andrews.
He is survived by his
mother, Esther Andrews of Berryville, Virginia; one
brother, James Andrews and his wife, Janet of
Stanardsville, Virginia; three sisters, Pauline Walker
and her husband, Lenny of Gordonsville, Virginia,
Carolyn Nichols and her husband, Roger of Gore,
Virginia, Gloria Sumner and her husband, Richard of
Bladensburg, Maryland; and many nieces, nephews, great
nieces, great nephews, other family members including
a large extended family, Brenda Wyant and family,
Darnell Morris and family, Linda Dunnivan and family,
Earl Shifflett and family and many loving friends.
Lynwood was the
caregiver of W.E. Shifflett. Lynwood cared for W.E. as
though he were his own son for the past 10 years.
Lynwood referred to W.E. as “his boy.” Lynwood found
great joy in helping other people as well as playing
cards and checkers with David Shifflett. He enjoyed
his many treats from Ruth Snow.
The family will receive
friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday, September 27,
2007 at the Ryan Funeral Home.
A funeral service will
be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, September 28, 2007 at the
Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. James Woods officiating.
Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.
The family suggests that
memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the
Piedmont, 2200 Old Ivy Road, Suite 2, Charlottesville,
VA 22903 or the Greene County Rescue Squad, PO Box
302, Stanardsville, VA 22973.
The family would like to
extend a special thank you to Drs. Goldstein,
Spaulding, Short, Pritchard and Nurse Myra from the
Hospice of the Piedmont for all their care and
support.
