On September 24, 2007, George S. Early, Sr., 68, of Stanardsville went home to be with the Lord.

George was born September 5, 1939 in Stanardsville. He was the son of the late James and Sally Brock Early.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Steve Early and one brother, Bobby Early.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Mary “Ethel” Early; one son, George S. Early, Jr. and his wife, Gwen of Charlottesville; two daughters, Linda Early and her fiancé, Don Harris of Stanardsville, Alison “Darlene” Early of Ruckersville; eight grandchildren, Quincey, Teresa, Marcus, Terrell, Whitney, Latoya, Anthony and Jalen; three great grandsons, Brandon, De’Markus and Tre; three sisters, Bessie, Susie, Maude; and many other family members and friends.

George was a loving son, brother, husband, father and “Papa” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 27, 2007 at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Harrison Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
