James D. Epling
James D. Epling, 63, of Stanardsville
passed away Sunday, April 6, 2008 at the University of
Virginia Medical Center from complications of a
massive stroke.
He was born on December 23, 1944 in Washington, D.C.
and was the son of the late James B. Epling and Gladys
M. Epling.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Kay Epling of
Stanardsville; one son, James “Jamey” Dale Epling, Jr.
and his wife, Pam of Daytona Beach, Florida; one
daughter, Stacy Epling also of Daytona Beach,
Florida;one step-son, Brice LeBlanc of Dallas-Fort
Worth, Texas; one brother, Wayne L. Epling and his
wife, Carol Ann of Purcellville, Virginia; five
sisters, Ruth Weichbrodt and her husband, Bob of Glen
Allen, Virginia, Carol Maytan of Ponce Inlet, Florida,
Connie Loughhead of Buena Vista, Virginia, Kathy
Dorsey and her husband, John of Timberville, Virginia,
Linda McIntyre and her husband, Jim of Front Royal,
Virginia; two grandchildren, Tyler and Ashley Epling;
numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, many other
loving family members and friends.
Mr. Epling was a resident of Greene County since 2000.
Prior to this, he was a resident of Elkton and
Fairfax, Virginia. He was an avid outdoorsman and
enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He
was an excavator and was known to many of his friends
as, “Dirt Man.”
A memorial service will be held at
2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at the Ryan Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Josh Shifflett and P. L. Kyger
officiating. The family will receive friends
immediately following the service at the Stanardsville
Fire Hall.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be
made to the Stanardsville Volunteer Fire Department,
PO Box 165, Stanardsville, Virginia 22973, Greene
County Rescue Squad, PO Box 302, Stanardsville,
Virginia 22973 or National Stroke Association.
