Hollis N. HaneyHollis N. Haney

Hollis Norwood Haney, 87, of Ruckersville passed away Sunday, August 12, 2007 at his residence after a long illness.

Mr. Haney served his country as Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired from the City of Charlottesville Maintenance Dept. as an electrician after 35 years.

Born June 26, 1920 in Greene County to the late De Marcus Lubin Haney and Selina Deane Haney.   Also preceding him in death was his stepdaughter,
Virginia Lewis, three grandchildren, four brothers and five sisters.

Hollis is survived by his wife of 41 years, Helen E. Haney; two daughters, Wanda H. Shelton and her friend, M.D. Mallory and Lisa Tilley and her friend Lonny; three step children, Brenda Powell and her husband Bryant, Nona Jarrell and her husband Ronnie and Wayne Marshall and his house mate Sue Bunch; ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren and his beloved pet, Smokey.

Funeral service for Hollis will be Thursday, 2:00 PM, August 16, 2007 at the Ryan Funeral Home with the Rev. Wendell Lamb officiating.   Interment will follow at the Stanardsville Cemetery.

The Haney family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at the funeral home. They would like to give many thanks to the
staff of Hospice of the Piedmont and Dr. Devon Lowdon.

The family has entrusted Ryan Funeral Home with the arrangements.
