Pearl Richards Haney, 93, of Ruckersville passed away January 8, 2008 at a local hospital surrounded by her family.

She was born in Greene County on January 23, 1914. Pearl was the daughter of the late Walter Lee Richards and Susie Garton Richards.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Finks H. Haney; a daughter, Mildred M. Haney; one sister,
Hazel R. Shipp; one brother, W. Whitelaw Richards.

She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Morris of Charlottesville, Virginia, Dot Herring and her husband, Claude, Jeanette Harlow and her husband, Odell all of Ruckersville; one sister, Mildred Sparks; one brother, William Richards; four grandchildren, Bonnie Craddock and her husband, Ronald, Dale Herring and his wife, Sue, Anthony Herring and his wife, Stephanie, Janet Shifflett and her husband, Jay; 10 great grandchildren, Brian Craddock and his wife, Holli, Erin Brown and her
husband, Chris, Brad Craddock, Christian, Casey and Corey Herring, Megan Herring, Travis Lamb, Wyatt and Jay II Shiflett; three great-great grandchildren, Madison and Grant Brown and Anna Craddock; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Pearl was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, attending since she was an infant and remaining active until her passing. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved family friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 12, 2008 at the Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. David Knighton officiating.  Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, January 11, 2008 at the Ryan Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church , 3687 Toms Road, Barboursville, Virginia 22923.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Jeffrey Davis, the Greene County Rescue Squad, Martha Jefferson Hospital Emergency Room Staff and the nurses of the 2nd floor ICU at Martha Jefferson Hospital.
