Larry “Bubba” Gene
Harbinson, 59, of Ruckersville, Virginia died on
Friday, December 7, 2007 at his residence. He was born
on December 3, 1948 in Newton, NC to the late Keith R.
Harbinson and Carlotta Sellers Harbinson.
Mr. Harbinson lived in Galivants Ferry, SC where he
was a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church later
moving to Luray, VA. He attended UNC Chapel Hill and
was a diehard UNC fan. He was a member of the Naval
ROTC at UNC Chapel Hill. He served his country in the
United States Army and retired from the Military
Police Corp after 21 years of service. He was honored
by the Criminal Investigations Division for his
military police work as a road MP and as an
investigator. He was named 1SGT of the 437th MP Co,
Ft. Belvoir, VA. After 2 tours to Korea he was
awarded for Korean Defense by the US and S. Korean
Government. He enjoyed fishing and golfing, but above
all he enjoyed the time he spent with his family and
friends.
He is survived by his wife, Drema Lorine Harbinson of
Luray, one son, Shawn Harbinson of Havre De Grace, Md,
one daughter, Lindi Knight and her husband, Nathan of
Ruckersville, one step son, Sammy Bradford of
Winchester, VA, and one step daughter, Beverly Pearson
and her husband, Timothy of Bentonville, VA.
Additional survivors include, one brother, Ronald
Harbinson and his wife, Barbara of Chandler, Arizona,
one sister, Pam Arndt of Boiling Springs, SC, eight
grandchildren, Matthew, Marissa, Cayden, Brianna
“Birdie”, Hunter, Alyssa, Peyton and Nathan and
numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and
friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by
his sister, Denise Waldrop, step mother, Martha
Harbinson and two grandchildren, Treye and Hannah
Pearson.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December
11, 2007 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home,
12819 Spotswood Drive, Ruckersville, Virginia 22968.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December
12, 2007 at 11 a.
m. at Ryan Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery
with military
honors provided Culpeper American Legion Post 330 and
VFW Post 2524.
