Bessie Morris Herring

Bessie Morris Herring, 92, of Stanardsville passed away peacefully Monday, November 5, 2007 at the Evergreene Nursing Care Center.

Bessie was born June 23, 1915 in Greene County. She was the daughter of the late Laney and Emma Morris.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur Shifflett; second husband, George Herring, Jr.; two brothers, George Alex Morris, Charles Irving Morris; one sister, Ethel Morris Shifflett.

She is survived by one sister, Stella Zemeckis of Chicago, Illinois; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Bessie was a member of Evergreen Church of the Brethren and retired Postmistress of the Mission Home Post Office in Mission Home, Virginia. Bessie especially enjoyed housekeeping, cooking, talking and laughing with her family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 8, 2007 at the Ryan Funeral Home with Pastor David Brunk officiating.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Ryan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
