David C. Hovey
Our
beloved husband and father, David Charles Hovey,
passed from this life unexpectedly on April 18, at
our home in Barboursville.
He was totally devoted, loving, and supportive of
his wife Pauline and son Davis, who will miss him
terribly. His greatest joys and proudest moments
came from his experiences of his son, from
witnessing Davis’s miraculous birth to cheering him
on the soccer field or on his swim team. We could
not have had a better dad or a more supportive
husband.
David was born December 2, 1949, in Oswego, NY,
an only child who lost his own father at a young
age. David had such a generous heart, was ready to
give to anyone in need, and did so quietly and often
anonymously. While still in college, he became a Big
Brother to four young teenaged brothers. He so loved
and supported them that they and their mother treat
David and his family as blood relatives.
In addition to his wife and son, David is
survived by numerous cousins, in-laws, and four
nieces and nephews. He will be especially missed by
his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Anne Marie and
Mike Cormier, who cared for him as a brother and
friend.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00
P.M. Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at the Ryan Funeral
Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, Virginia
and also from 6:30-7:30 P.M. Thursday, April 23,
2009 at the Church of the Incarnation,

The family will celebrate David’s life at a
funeral service 7:30 P.M. Thursday, April 23, 2009
at the Church of the Incarnation, 1465 Incarnation
Drive, Charlottesville, Virginia. A reception will
be held immediately following the service.
