David Daniel Morris, Jr., 81, of Ruckersville passed away peacefully at the University of Virginia Medical Center on March 6, 2008.

He was born on November 2, 1926 in Greene County. He was the son of the late David Daniel Morris, Sr. and Bertha Silena Morris.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Morris and Clayburn Morris; three sisters, Lillian Knight, Thelma Mundie and Sylvia Knight.

David is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Grace Patterson Morris of Ruckersville, Virginia ; two sons, Calvin Morris and his wife, Elaine Morris of Hagerstown, Maryland, Rodney Morris of Farmville, Virginia; one daughter, Regina Morris Davis and her husband, Bob of Crofton, Maryland; one sister, Marie Pope and her husband, Burrell of Wenatchee, Washington; four grandchildren, Jody Morris, Jeremy Morris, Jason Morris, Casey Morris; five great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends.

David proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired in 1989 from FSTC of Charlottesville, Virginia after 20 years of service. Before working for FSTC, he was employed by Sperry/New Holland in Belleville, Pennsylvania and Charlottesville, Virginia.

He took great pride in gardening and lawn care. He had a deep appreciation of nature and animals, especially Purple Martin birds.  David enjoyed family gatherings and often took interest in helping anyone in need.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday, March 9, 2008 at the Ryan Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 10, 2008 at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. David Allison and Rev. James Jinks officiating. Following the service, the family will hold a reception at Nortonsville Church of God.
