Ruby Pearl RoachRuby Pearl Roach

Ruby Pearl Roach, 79, of Stanardsville went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, January 12, 2008. She passed peacefully at her home in the loving care of her daughters, granddaughter and grandson.

She was born in Greene County, Virginia on March 12, 1928 to the late Zadie Morris. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Roach; her loving sister, Blanche Collier; a special lifelong friend, Mary Dorcas Roach Smith.

God saw she was getting tired,
and a cure was not to be;
so he put His arms around her and whispered, "Come with me."
With tearful eyes
we watched her suffer,
and saw her fade away.

Although we loved her dearly,
we could
not make her stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest;
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.

Ruby is survived by her daughters, Irene Shifflett and Patsy Conley both of Stanardsville, Virginia, Joyce Conley of McGaheysville, Virginia; one son, Freddie Knight of Broadway, Virginia; one brother, Palmer Morris of Penn Laird, Virginia; two beloved sons-in-law, Mike Conley of Stanardsville, Virginia and Gene Conley of McGaheysville, Virginia; five grandchildren, Patricia Arrowood, Larry and Jonathan
Shifflett, Michael and Jessica Conley: additional survivors include great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, including Janie and Selena Dean, her church family and many special lifelong friends too numerous to mention.

Ruby loved life and people and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a devout Christian woman who dedicated her life to her family and friends, to the Lord and to the church. She embraced all of those around her and never met a stranger who did not become an immediate friend. Our lives are so much richer for having known and been loved by her.

The family expresses a heartfelt thank you to all of the friends and family who so generously gave of their time and money to assure that Ruby had the rich life on earth that she deserved.

The family would also like to thank her physician, Dr. John McGovern, the Martha Jefferson Health Care Nurses, Vickie and the Greene County Pharmacy for all of their care and support of Ruby.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00A.M. Monday, January 14, 2008 at the Ryan Funeral Home. Interment will follow at High Top Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Stanardsville Fire Hall immediately following the interment.

Ruby often commented that during her life she had received many beautiful flowers from her loved ones and that she needed no more at her death. Those who knew and loved Ruby know that she received her final reward.

Ryan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
