Elwood ShifflettElwood Shifflett

Elwood Shifflett, 79, of Charlottesville went Home to be with the Lord on December 10, 2007.

He was born December 28, 1927 in Fluvanna County. He was the son of the late Enoch Pat Shifflett and Maude Florence Morris Shifflett.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Scarlett Shifflett and two brothers, Lloyd Ray Shifflett and Enoch Earl
Shifflett.

Elwood is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Evelyn B. Shifflett; one daughter, Debra Anglin and her husband, William “Bill” of Keswick; three sons, Elwood Steve Shifflett of Dyke, Kenneth Wayne Shifflett of Charlottesville, Kevin “Kato” Dale Shifflett of Barboursville; two sisters, Muriel George of Richmond, Shirley Greene
and her husband, Joe of Charlottesville; one brother, Stanley Shifflett and his wife, Louise of Orange; one sister-in-law, Joyce M. Shifflett of Ruckersville; four grandchildren, Daniel Elwood Roach of Lynchburg, Bradley Lee Shifflett of Roanoke, Holly Anne Roach of Charlottesville and Katherine Lynn Shifflett and her mother, Patti B. Shifflett both of Palmyra; and numerous other family members and friends.

Before moving to Charlottesville, Elwood was a resident of Earlysville for 37 years. As a resident of Earlysville, he was a charter member of the Earlysville Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Nortonsville Church of God, enjoyed gardening and caring for his yard.  He was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from Sperry.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, December 13, 2007 at Nortonsville Church of God with Rev. David Allison officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at Nortonsville Church of God.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Nortonsville Church of God Building Fund, 1505 Simmons Gap Road, Dyke, Virginia 22935.
