James “Otis” Shifflett
James “Otis” Shifflett, 83, of
Stanardsville passed away November 1,
2007.
He was born on June 24, 1924/ in Greene County. Otis
was the son of the late Jesse James Shifflett and
Katie Blanche Knight Shifflett.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death
by two sisters, Gladys Taylor and Dorothy Lamb; one
brother, Junior Shifflett.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years,
Marjorie Mae Frazier Shifflett; three sons, James
Shifflett and his wife, Faye of Ruckersville, Wade
Shifflett and his wife, Brenda of Stanardsville,
Jeffery Shifflett and his wife, Brenda of Schuyler;
two daughters, Linda Price and her husband, Gary of
Barboursville, Wendy Morris and
her husband, Ronnie of Stanardsville; one brother,
Vernon Shifflett of North Garden; four sisters, Ruby
Roach, Bernice Deane both of Stanardsville, Marie
Drumheller of Charlottesville, Doris Shifflett of
Rockville, Maryland; 11 grandchildren; 4
step-grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 3
step-great grandchildren; special friend, Lee Morris;
numerous other family members and friends.
Otis was retired from Crouse-Hinds. He was an avid
hunter and outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed coon
hunting and talking with his family and friends about
hunting.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M.
Saturday, November 3, 2007 at the Ryan Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday,
November 4, 2007 at the Evergreen Church of the
Brethren with Rev. C. C. Kurtz and Johnny Roach
officiating. Interment will follow at the church
cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to
the Greene County Rescue Squad and the Greene County
Sheriff’s Department.
