Marvin “Buck” Shifflett, 94, passed away peacefully December 11, 2007.

His warm and wonderful smile will always be in the memory of those he held most dear.

Marvin was born October 14, 1913 in Madison, Virginia to the late Herbert Lee Shifflett and Lou Vinnie Kirtley Shifflett.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd Shifflett, James Shifflett and Frank Shifflett; four sisters, Beatrice DuBoss, Gertie McDaniel, Alice Sprouse and Nellie Kingrea.

Marvin is survived by a beloved sister, Cora Wood of Nelson County and sister-in-law, Vernie Shifflett of Charlottesville.

“Uncle Buck” also leaves many nieces and nephews who will always remember how special he made each of them feel.

Marvin, a long time resident of Orange County Nursing Home and Home for Adults, leaves many fond memories with his many wonderful friends who had become a very close knit part of his family.

The family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation to all the staff and residents who did everything they could to keep Marvin well and happy. May God truly bless each one of you.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 15, 2007 at the Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. Shawn Edwards officiating.  Interment will follow at Ivy Creek United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, December 14, 2007 at the Ryan Funeral Home.

The family welcomes flowers but also suggests memorial contributions to be made to the Orange County Nursing Home, 120 Dogwood Lane, Orange, Virginia 22960.
