George
Allen Teed, Jr.
George Allen Teed, Jr., 91, died
Saturday December 8, 2007 at his home in the presence
of his loving family. George was born on December 2,
1916 in Katonah, New York.
George enlisted in the Navy the day after Pearl Harbor
was bombed and served in WWII from 1941-1945 as a
Master Bell Diver and a machinist on submarines in the
South Pacific. He went on to attend Madison College,
where he met the love of his life, Eleanor, and
graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He taught
a myriad of courses in the public school system in
Virginia for 15 years including drafting, general
science, biology, and chemistry, but also managed to
make time to become a beloved coach of high school
football, baseball, track, and basketball. He was a
life member of the VFW Post 8208 and served as Quarter
Master.
George is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years,
Eleanor, and his children, George A. Teed III and wife
Joyce, of Lebanon, CT, Ellie Teed of Nashville, TN,
Julia Sullivan and husband Rick, of Sumter, SC, Reta
Kennon and husband Leo of Stanardsville, VA, Judy
Kenyon and husband Jeff of Sequin, WA, and Rev. Lee
Teed of San Diego, CA. He is also survived by twelve
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. George
lived life to the fullest. All of us who knew him were
so blessed to have shared his life…his stories…his
mischief….his laughter…his love for life. He will be
greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at Culpeper National
Cemetery, Friday, December 28, 2007 at 11:00 AM.
