What will you
experience along your journey Into the
Woods with the students of William
Monroe High School?

A baker and his wife longing for a child.
A boy longing to keep a
friend.
A wolf longing for a girl
in a red cape.

A hairy situation.
Footwear fashion.
Growing greens.
Princes un-charming.
This production of Stephen
Sondheim's fairy tale musical is a trim
version just right for its young cast.
The lean sets and musical accompaniment
let the actors be the the true stars of
the show offering the audience a uniquely
enjoyable opportunity to view
up-and-coming Greene talent.
This journey retains
Sondheim's quirky skewed view of
happily every after and, at the
same time, is molded to showcase the
individual talents of the group. The
pared down accompaniment provides strong
support form piano with just right
percussion accents.
A quick pace moves the
audience along the twisted path
through the characters lives over a
three-night period. Each character
searches for fulfillment of some dream but
finds imagination can be more pleasant
than reality and happily every after is
the actual fairy tale.
All this happens with wit
and humor and music. Along the way
you meet an on-its-last-legs cow, a pair
of not-so-noble nobles, frustrated women
who are non-to-pleased with the men in
their lives and earnest men who just can't
seem to get it right.
Delights include a voice
as crystal clear as a rippling forest
stream, youthful enthusiasm shining with
potential and a fine joining of
imagination and ideas to make your trip
Into the Woods well worth the
journey.
