South River Incident
a novel by Ann Mullen book jacket

If you have never read Ann Mullen’s books, let me tell you why you should. First, it is truly special to be at the beginning of a new author’s contribution to the literary world.

Ms. Mullen’s first book, What You See, is a good book. I’m a Virginian and it is a uniquely pleasurable experience to read a story set in an area I am familiar with and one I love.

But if you like What You See, you will love Mullen’s second book, South River Incident. The first book had to introduce the character of Jesse Watson and explain how she became a detective.

The second book immediately jumps in and involves the lady right away in a new mystery. A murder that finds Jesse a suspect as well.

This hot summer has been a good time to relax and read; and that is what I have been doing with Ann Mullen’s books. But I warn you; don’t read this book late at night and alone!

Ms. Mullen keeps your heart beating fast and every creak of your house makes you feel uneasy. Now that is a good mystery!

Not only does Ms. Mullen write a good mystery; she also writes a good love story. This author could easily be a romance novelist.

I am excited to be one of her readers and admirers. I believe Ann Mullen could easily become as well-known and loved as another favorite author of mine – Mary Higgins-Clark.

As soon as my heart can stand it, I will read her third book A Crying Shame. But, I think I will read it only in the daytime!

For Christmas Ms. Mullen will gift us with her 4th book in the Jesse Watson series! I know what will be under my tree!
