Veterans Day 2006

11:00AM Annual Celebration @ Greene County Courthouse MapQuest

The ceremony begins on the 11th house of the 11th day of the 11th month.

Hosted by Greene County's American Legion Post 128.. Featured guests include all military personnel, veteran's and their families. Activities include music from the William Monroe High School Band, 21-gun salute, laying of wreaths at the county monuments to war dead, playing of Taps, lowering of the flag and presentation, raffle drawing and more. Public encouraged to attend and participate.

Won't You Be a Neighbor?

What a wonderful night in the neighborhood when the Greene County Sheriff's Department and County emergency services personnel hosted the county's first National Night Out.

In a community of neighbors - not just residents - it made perfect sense to turn the night out into a party in the pasture where nothing was ablaze but the sunset over the Blue Ridge and all the police grilled were hot dogs for everyone to enjoy. A great evening out.
