I congratulate Jim Webb on becoming the Democratic nominee to beat George Allen this November. And I also send my gratitude to Harris Miller. Both men should be commended for standing up and demanding that our government do better. It is time for Congress to work for all Americans again, and both Webb and Miller believe in that goal.

Jim Webb waged a strong campaign, and Democrats across the state are getting behind our candidate. I am ready to work hard with Jim Webb and bring our message of change to the Fifth district, Virginia, and America.

Jim and I, as combat veterans, will work in tandem to go to Washington and demand that the war in Iraq must end. We will stand together in the 5th District, just as both our sons will be serving together in Iraq.

Virgil Goode, George Allen, and the Republican controlled Congress have had their chance. Virginians deserve a Congress that will stand up to George Bush and will provide real solutions to the issues we face every day. Jim and I are ready to bring the honest and accountable leadership that Virginians are demanding.
